Kinkade Study by jjpeabody Kinkade Study by jjpeabody
So anyone that knows me knows that I've been studying Kinkades technique. I know he gets a bad wrap because he mass produced art, but he was a very successful man with a plan right?

So I've been doing studies not only how he painted light, but also how I can best represent that in Photoshop. Believe it or not, it's surprisingly quick.

Once I get stronger with painting light, I'll probably share my brushes and my technique. However, I want to get better with it first.

Note: This is a study and is not for sale. Reference here: [link]

My goal is to mix it up and apply this to my favorite genre -landscapes. Specifically, fantasy landscapes :D

I like this one a lot. It has a good balance. However there are areas on the house that need some dark lines to fix contrast. There are groups of too much light together on the top left half of the house and sort of the mid central part as well.. Otherwise, great pallatte of color. You did a great job mixing it up and keeping true to what kinkade did so well. LAyering light colors last, often in the form of flowering plants or trees.
Its a good one to learn from, I saw this one hanging in a gallery, one of his mass produced painted top coat copies that he took so much hell for.
He was successful and his work was awesome, you can't blame someone for being really memorable.

Its still a sound image. But as you can tell, I am trying to give feedback, not just blow smoke up... well. You get the picture.

You can't be a worse critic than me :D! Seriously, I'm cool with it.

In that case, good lord, feel free to rip into my stuff. I wouldn't want to have all the fun without facing the music myself.

I would return the favor, but you're a writer! I really don't know how to critique writing.
