Slappy-Snifferdoo

So if you've been watching me for a while, you know that I've been struggling with characters.  Basically, anything that's not landscape.  When I first started landscapes, I would do a chaotic scribble on the digital canvas until I saw something.  I would get so frustrated and wouldn't "find" anything within the chaos.  After a while and after a few landscape studies, I began to "see" things within the chaotic mess that has become my style.  I attempted to learn how to paint other things using this chaotic method, but to no avail.  In fact, I would have to say it was harder.  What would happen is I would start getting frustrated and switch back to a landscape just to get the endorphin hit of actually completing something.

This weekend, I forced myself to push through this chaos.  It was the same method that I learned with landscapes.  I just needed to push myself.  They key, I believe, is to do studies so your eye can pull these clues from the chaos later.
